Lujuan is about 60 km west of Buenos Aires and is where the noted Catholic Basilica is located. Some 4,000,000 pilgrims visit the Basilica each year. There are 100,000 habitants of Lujuan and this is the only Baptist church.

Jorge Ovando Family

Although officially 90% of Argentineans are Roman Catholic, fewer than 20% attend church regularly. Most go for weddings, funerals and major feast days. Many Argentineans make annual pilgrimages to holy sites and local shrines. The most popular place is Luján, 40 miles west of Buenos Aires. Each year, thousands of people make the pilgrimage on foot from Buenos Aires to honor the Patron Saint of Argentina, the Virgin of Luján.

According to tradition, in 1620 a statue of the Virgin was being carried from town to town in a cart. The cart got stuck at Luján, Buenos Aires Province, and could not be moved. The people built a chapel for the Virgin to protect the statue. Today there is a large basilica where the chapel once stood.

Our project will include several ponts of outreach to support that local church and to reach the people of Lujuan for Jesus.   Dr. Herrod will be preaching an Evangelistic Campaign sponsored by the Baptist Church of Lujuan where Bro. Jorge Ovando is pastor.

A construction team has been requested. If your church or Association could send a construction team, we will work with you and our contacts in Argentina to coordinate the date and the necessary construction supplies.

Your contribution to this project will bless the people of Lujuan, the Baptist Church and mostly, will bless you as you serve.  So ... LET'S GO!
